About Ryan Calloway & Creative Ironworks

Ryan Calloway works in an imaginative, creative style that brings new life to an ancient art form. He is continuously experimenting with both traditional and modern techniques, creating furniture, sculpture, kitchen ware, home and garden décor, and ornamental iron. Some of Ryan’s influences are Alexander Calder, Samuel Yellin, and Albert Paley.

Ryan Calloway began his career as a metal artist after finishing high school. He studied industrial technology at the Brasier Campus of Greenville Technical College (located in Greenville, South Carolina) where he learned many ways of fusing metal, machining, and was introduced to oxy-acetylene torch work, as well as familiarizing himself with different welding processes.

Ryan finished his degree in industrial technology with a business minor in 1998 in Greenville, South Carolina. Gathering tools for the trade, he began to set up his first shop working with steel and making art.

In 2000 Ryan moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. He began setting up a studio in the Garden District to continue his passion with metal as an art medium. Shortly after moving to New Orleans Ryan began an industrial welding job fabricating and installing structural iron work with William Talon Enterprises.
